How do you get there?

From eastern Canada, you can fly to Cape Dorset either through Ottawa or Montreal. The first leg takes you by commercial jetliner to Iqaluit, the capital of Nunavut and the hub of all air travel on Baffin Island. Formerly Frobisher Bay, Iqaluit is now a bustling town of close to 5,000 people. Chances are, you’ll be spending at least a few hours here, perhaps more depending on the weather. Flights to Cape Dorset leave daily; again, depending on the weather. It takes about an hour on the large turbo-prop cargo planes that regularly carry passengers and freight to Cape Dorset and other Baffin Island communities.
